[Review] Green Sprout Cafe

When I went to visit this cafe a friend introduced to me the other day. I was quite excited as I have an extremely sweet tooth and this cafe sells, yes teatime cakes and desserts! :D So I thought to myself, let's go check it out! Hahha it's been awhile since I've been to a cake shop. The last was Nadeje's Cake House :) The Mille crepes there was to die for! Love that cake shop. Anyways moving on. I didn't manage to take a photo of the surroundings of the cafe. >< Wish I had though, the atmosphere was really nice.

Okay. So my friends and I decided to get the promotion which was on at the time, which was 4 cakes and 1 pot of tea. It was quite a good deal. Only thing was the portion of cakes were quite small. :/ So that deal turned out to be bad.. -.- Also the service there was slightly below average. The waitress forgot to bring us our tea which we ordered with the cakes! Hmph! We had to ask them for it.

The illustrations are not that good. *forgive my bad photography skills* >.< From the top left is Tiramisu. Below that is a marble cheese cake. Next to the marble cheese cake is a banana chocolate cake and right above that is the red velvet cheese cake. It all sounds so delicious! *drools* Even the appearance is nice!

First up is the tiramisu! My honest opinion, the tiramisu is not that bad. However, I feel that they have put too much liquid into it when making it. The texture of it was too watery. Also I find the taste abit too mild. I do love the way they decorated it though! It looks nice!

Second would be the marble cheese cake! I am a huge fan of cheese cakes! Any cheese cake, I would eat. However, thanks to that I have become extremely picky when it comes to cheese cakes. -.- I expected the marble cheese cake to be delicious. From the looks of the photo, it looks really appetising. But when I used my fork to get a bite. The disappointment was evident. The cake was so hard! Like seriously, I had to wait for the cake to melt a little before I could eat it. Maybe they froze the cake too much. I have not ate a cheese cake so hard. The taste however was fine. It was not too sweet yet not too bland either. It was just fine. :) The chocolatey pattern is also pretty! :D

Third would be the red velvet cheese cake! 😍😍 Red velvet is also another one of my top favourite cakes! I absolutely adore red velvet. My expectations for this was also quite high. Sadly it did not meet my expectations at all. This is by far the worst red velvet cake I've tasted so far. *sobs* I chose that since it was a mix of cheese and red velvet and thought it would be a really really delicious combination since both cheese and red velvet are on the top of my list of favourite cakes. This was really a letdown. The decoration was pretty and it looked mouthwatering until you take a bite. Then it shatters all your hopes for it. The red velvet base just became crumbs the moment you tried to cut it. The cheese on top was a little too hard. Perhaps a little overbaked. :/ I ended up only eating the cheese on top. The red velvet base was also extremely dry and crumby as I've mentioned above.

Lastly, is the banana chocolate cake. I didn't expect much from this since the first three were already letdowns. *sigh* However, the cake was slightly above average actually! I like this cake. :) The way they decorated the cake is really nice. The taste of the chocolate cake was not too sweet as some chocolate cakes could be and the banana in the cake, it was a little too ripe, but it's fine otherwise. :) Also this cake was wobbly which was cute! They used a tooth pick to hold all the layers together. The strawberry on top was abit sour. Overall I like this cake the best. :D The other three were just letdowns. :(

In conclusion, the cakes of this cafe is not to die for. Their cakes are only okayish. Some are even below average. Hmph. The plus points of this cafe is they don't only serve cakes and drinks, they also have main course meals which you can have there. Mostly western though. Here's a photo of my friends and I that day! :D

Rating: 2/5
I wouldn't revisit. :)
